Duality - Simon Bray and Tristan Poyser
‘Duality’ explores the ways in which uniform or workwear influence perceptions. Individuals are displayed twice - once in their work attire, the other in their own clothing. We are asking viewers to consider how they respond to uniform and whether they pre-judge someone based on their appearance. What would your assumptions be about a man dressed as a builder? How would you interact with a performer dressed as a classical singer? We all let working roles affect our perceptions and interactions with others yet we ourselves all want to be treated like the unique beings that we are, shaped by our experiences, relationships, beliefs and environments. How do you begin treating those you interact with as individuals?
