Fruit: idealized for its skin’s texture and colour over the quality of the flesh itself. The human body: valued primarily for its ability to carry clothing. Is what lies beneath the peel and clothing a second skin?
This work explores the core meaning of the word ‘skin’. The very visual media world seems to convince us that colour and texture are more important than the quality of what lies beneath. But what happens when flesh is exposed, when the scars' painful reminders of the past are the centre of attention; when what is really there is what you see?
